The Prison and Theory Working Group is composed of scholars, activists, and philosophers dedicated to the project of prison abolition. Whether inside or outside of the academy, inside or outside of the prison, we are bound by a common desire to dismantle the carceral state. This means relentlessly exposing its insidious histories and logics of racist violence while actively breaking down its walls.

We have drafted 10 Key Points as a first attempt to clarify our practice.

We maintain a bibliography of work by currently and formerly incarcerated writers.

And we sometimes hold public events and workshops.
